I know there is no sort of checklist for someone to identify as trans, but I am just wondering if there are any tell tale signs?
I am female and have been questioning for a long time whether or not I am trans and more recently it's all I can think about.
For me I hate having boobs, I love having armpit hair and leg hair because I love how masculine it makes me feel, I have always identified more with (for lack of a better way of saying it) guy things. I can't bare to look at myself in the mirror, i honestly can't tell you the last time I wore women's clothes. Although I do wear a bra for obvious reasons.
I just feel so uncomfortable all the time in my body.
I have a girlfriend who I have been with for 4 years, she doesn't know and I don't know how to tell her.
I'm terrified and I just needed somewhere to ask for help.
I identify as gay man and can't say I am the best person to reply to your request. Hopefully someone who has trans experience will chip in.
My thoughts on your situation is that it would be good for you to make contact anonymously with someone about this first of all and I would always recommend folk ring the Switchboard 0300 330 0630 as a first port of call. You can say exactly what is on your mind and why. They are a lovely bunch of volunteers with a lot of experience and lists of resources of all kinds. They will be able to supply you with numbers and website addresses that are appropriate to your needs. During the pandemic, they are all working from home and actually more available than at normal times, so you should get to speak to someone pretty quickly.
The service is free, and confidential. I have used it since 1974! Sometimes I have just been lonely and wanted a chat.
Forgive me if you have already done this, but there are various threads on this site where people have expressed similar situations. You may find something on them that resonates with you and is helpful. It is great you have reached out.
