I am a biological female however for the longest time I have always thought about having both parts. I know that it naturally occurs in people such as the Intersex but I am a complete biological female. I do not know how to process this and it is causing my mental state to go wild. I would feel somewhat at ease knowing that there was others like me, who would feel more comfortable with both, but I have looked and cannot find anything and I have never heard of anyone being like me. I keep invalidating my own feelings and telling myself I'm being greedy wanting both. I Dont know what to do and it makes me feel hopeless.
Welcome to the OutLife Forums and thanks for your post.
As a cis gay man I don't know exactly what you're going through right now, but I'd urge you to treat yourself with kindness, however you're feeling. Questions of gender identity and sexual identity can be difficult to process, but it's important to remember that your feelings are valid and that there are people and organisations out there that can give you support.
In your post you describe yourself as a biological female and you don't mention whether you've actually been to a medical professional to see whether your possess any intersex variation? Not all types of intersex variation are externally visible, which means that they can only be identified by a further medical investigation.
Regardless, your feelings of wanting both kinds of genitalia are, by the sounds of it, causing you some mental distress, so it's worth talking to an organisation that understands gender identity well and has some experience in helping people in your situation. You're absolutely not the only person to feel this way, and you won't be the only person any organisation helps explore / understand this particular desire either. It's very easy for us to think we're completely unique and the only person experiencing a given state, but it's almost never true.
Below I'm going to link to some organisations that I think can help. They're all reputable, confidential, and might be able to put you on the right track to receiving some support.
Mermaids - You don't mention how old you are but if you're a young person then you might be able to seek support from Mermaids, which is an excellent charity supporting trans and genderdiverse young people. They have a phone line you can call on 0808 801 0400 , Monday – Friday; 9am – 9pm. Switchboard - Switchboard is an LGBTQ+ helpline that's been running for over 40 years. It's staffed by queer people and is there for you to talk about whatever's on your mind. I'm sure someone there would be glad to talk about how you're feeling with you. You can call them on 0300 330 0630, or email firstname.lastname@example.org, webchat is available via their website.
LGBT Foundation - LGBT Foundation is a large charity based in Manchester that provides a helpline for queer people. They might also be able to provide advice and direct you toward more specialist support. You can call them on 0345 3 30 30 30.
I hope that you find one of the above links helpful. They're all incredible charities and are there to help anyone who's questioning their gender identity.
Please do send us a message and let us know how you're getting on. You can always post here.
